RELIEF, at last. The ZAR FIRMED into the low-16.30s as the USD sagged on softer US jobs and revived hopes the Iran war is winding DOWN. Brent EASED to USD83, taking the sting out of last week’s August fuel-hike fear, while gold RIPPED to a fresh record near USD4,260. For MZANSI that is a rare DOUBLE win: cheaper petrol on the horizon and a stronger currency at the TILL. But local factory sentiment stayed glum, the July PMIs soft on weak export demand. So SAVOUR the calm; don’t confuse it for a trend. Do NOTHING rash. Keep your feet on the ground and your eyes up.
